Rocksbox Subscription Service Review

One day while on the treadmill at the beginning of December I was working off my previous night's  cookie binge and watching Tati's video for the day. Tati, AKA GlamLifeGuru, is a major Youtuber/Beauty Guru that I have been a fan of for many years now. While watching her do a PR unboxing (showing all the free goodies she gets as a major Youtuber) she opened a box from a company that contained jewelry. In it there was a code from the company named Rocksbox and it had a code for a free 3-month trial subscription.

I instantly paused the video and somehow while still maintaining my speed on the treadmill I looked up the company and signed up for the free 3-month trial subscription. I may not be skilled at everything, but I am the Michael Phelps of multi-tasking.

Rocksbox is a monthly subscription service that costs $21 and you get to try out 3 jewelry pieces that are sent to your door. When you first sign up you fill out a style quiz and get assigned to a stylist that will pick each piece based on your quiz results. Once done with the quiz you can then go through their MASSIVE data base of all the pieces that are available for the service on their site and you "like" whichever ones catch your eye. When you "like" an item it lets your stylist know to pick pieces like that or you might get that exact piece in your month's set.

Once you receive the items they come in their own individual pouches in a beautifully presented box. Inside the box there is a pre-paid return label and the white bubble envelope the box came in you save and reuse to send the pieces back at the end of the month.

If you wish to own an item from the box then you just package up the other two or one, send them back, and once they're received Rocksbox will charge your card for the piece or pieces that you kept and the $21 you paid for the month gets applied to your purchase. If you decide to own the whole set you get a nice discount.

There are numerous designers to chose from, and the nice thing is is that you can exchange your sets as many times as you'd like each month. There is no limit to how many times you change a set each month.

Pros

My experience with the service has been amazing because it has pushed me to try new jewelry and style my outfits in different ways. It's sparked some new creativity in my wardrobe that has been much appreciated.

It makes it really easy to buy jewelry. Once you send the items back that you don't want to purchase, you don't even have to think about it. They do everything on their end and then next comes another set for you to play with.

Receiving any subscription each month, whether it's makeup, clothing, or jewelry, is an exciting thing to look forward to and feels a bit like a surprise gift to yourself.

Cons

There is a sale section on the website of items that have slight signs of wear from previous users. If you don't want to use your $21 towards anything from your month's set, you CAN'T use it towards the sale section. Any purchase from their sale section has to be a separate purchase.

Overall

If you like to play with new jewelry trends or if you feel like your wardrobe could use some fun accessorizing, try this service out! It will push you out of your comfort zone and you won't regret it!

Jewelry Spotlight: Adorn the Hunter

Over the years I've discovered some amazing accessory companies that I've featured on my blog, but like anyone in the fashion industry, I'm always on the lookout for another amazing company or piece to shed light on. 5 days ago when stumbling around on Instagram I found that company:

adornthehunter.com

This independent accessories company based out of Texas is one of the most affordable accessories company I've come across in years. The most expensive thing on their site is $35, while the least expensive thing being $2. With a range like that any wallet size can afford them, and they have some of the cutest designs outside of Charming Charlie.

Adorn The Hunter

My favorites

 Perfect for Monday mornings.

In the 3 years I've been living in the deep swampy south, I have yet to see a full-grown gator. This ring is probably the closest I'm going to get to seeing a full-grown one. That's perfectly fine with me, since this adorable ring can't bite me.

I've been collecting elephants since I was a senior in high school - if the trunk is up that means it's good luck. Not only is this watch good luck, but if you can't make it to Coachella, you can still feel like you're a part of the action with this funky addition to your outfit.

I'm mildly obsessed with all things bee & honey related. I had a beautiful pair of sterling silver bee earrings until I lost one about 2 years ago and I've been heartbroken ever since. These will make a perfect, and perfectly affordable, replacement.

The Black Friday/Cyber Monday Conundrum

Hey lovelies! I'm sorry for the delay in posting, we have internet again! Woo-hoo! Here's a video I quickly made tonight for you guys.

Really important, I realize in my video it sounds like I'm bashing Black Friday, but that's not what I'm trying to do at all. Shopping in person on Black Friday in my opinion is worth it for the really pricey/large items like kitchen accessories, electronics, health gadgets, etc. That in my opinion is really worth fighting the crowds for. However, if you have to travel long distances and you're after ONLY makeup/clothing/accessories, in my opinion it's not that worth it because so many companies are now doing Black Friday sales online so you can shop from home for Black Friday and have it delivered right to your door for something that there's a larger quantity vs. only 5 of a specific trampoline that was marked down to $75 from $400 (Random example). Also, Cyber Monday sales are really amazing for all of the items as well, and of course most companies do free shipping or the prices are slashed so low it's worth it to pay for shipping.

I periodically check into my favorite stores, and so I don't feel the need to fight Black Friday crowds because I get great deals years round. This year I saw a lot of companies throwing out sales and deals that I have seen at previous points throughout this past year, which is why I am not as thrilled with Black Friday this year.

I'm my opinion, I recommend keeping close tabs on your favorite companies throughout the year via email list. Some companies of course only take discounts for Black Friday, and if that's the case then buy then, but for the most part more and more companies are doing random sales throughout the year to encourage buying during slower times. I know that Black Friday is built up as the day you run around fight the crowds, but if you can avoid it, shop at home on the websites or wait til Cyber Monday. Like I said, unless you are going for the larger/pricier items, then in which case fight those crowds!

I want to point out that various sites are having several deals today for the Cyber Monday holiday are continuing and the links are below. I hope you guys enjoyed my little show and tell!
