Time to groove

Hello again lovelies! I hope you all are having a fantastic week.

Last week I posted saying that the furthest east Buffalo Exchange goes is Philly. I was just recently informed that they are actually opening a Buffalo Exchange in Boston. YAAAAAY! Next time I fly out, I'm sooo going! Anyone want to join?

I am currently up in Ventura right now, and for those of you living up here who saw a curly-haired girl wearing crazy outfits while her mother followed her around with a camera, yes that was me, and no, I'm not crazy, I was just doing my Fashion Styling homework. School is good.

Of course, being up here in the lovely Ventura, I HAD to stop by the Urban Outfitters. My mother is equally as obsessed as I am so we went digging. I was lucky enough in the short amount of time we had to discover these fantastic tights.

HOT Deal

Tights: $5

I have a major obsession with tights right now and I've really been digging crazy-patterened tights such as these. Since I got my job at Nordstrom's Rack, I now can get funky with my clothing. I most likely will go back sometime tomorrow and pick up a few more pairs just because you can never have too many tights in my opinion.

You all should run before they're all sold out. I'm telling you, cute patterned tights like these are a must-have simply because they'll spice up any outfit. =)

For those of you who are looking for new shoes, I recommend stopping by Bakersshoes.com and jumping to their sales section. Every now and again I'll find my way back to Bakers and there's a reason why; they never disappoint. Their Sale section always has fantastic and adorable deals.

It's all been done before

Hello lovelies! I apologize but since Wednesday I have been working, packing and moving to my new apartment. I now live with my boyfriend in the lovely Point Loma, yay!

But unfortunately I have had no time to gather new material to blog about. I will be able to update Wednesday now that I have finished moving in and unpacking (FINALLY!)

Have a great week lovelies!

One of those "hot chocolate and good movie" nights

Hello lovelies! I hope everything is going wonderfully with you all.

I just recently was hired on at Nordstrom's Rack in the Accessories department. Yaaay! But of course, getting hired somewhere new means re-evaluation of one's wardrobe and figuring out what one can actually wear. I needed to do that anyways considering the fact that my wardrobe has grown in leaps and bounds since I moved out to San Diego, but I never wore half the stuff I got.

So, the other night, my lovely roommate and friend Thuy helped me for 2 hours as we sorted through. The results were in massive piles on the floor. After sorting through the good-quality clothing, I bagged everything up and today my boyfriend and I went to Buffalo Exchange

I'm going to tell you a little bit about this store.

Shopping Hot Spot

Buffalo Exchange

Buffalo Exchange was first started in Tuscon, Arizona in 1974. It was the first recorded store that sold, bought back, exchanged, and took items on consignment. They've been doing it ever since.

Directly from the website:

"PURPOSE

It is the purpose of Buffalo Exchange to lead the resale fashion industry, provide a livelihood for its employees, a fair return to its owners, and achieve sustainable profitability by:

* Being the most beneficial place for its customers to buy, sell, and trade new and recycled clothing
* Having a rewarding workplace
* Acting with integrity
* Being self-righting
* Functioning in a socially responsible manner
* Promoting fun and enjoyment"

This store is absolutely fantastic and one of my favorite places to go simply because they buy back your used clothing. Yes, you read correctly, they BUY BACK your clothing. Of course, it has to be in good condition and not from the 40's, but they'll buy it. Of course it all depends on the season. They can't buy back maxi dresses when it's turning to winter, but then you just have to keep those things until the spring and then they will.

When my boyfriend and I went today, they bought back 2 items from me, and gave me a $9 store credit which enabled me to afford these gorgeous new flats. These will be perfect for work since I don't have any flats that are work-appropriate. (AKA - Comfortable enough to walk around in all day)

SODA flats: $6 (after $9 store credit)

Hence, why I love this store. Of course, if you're living back East anywhere in the areas of New Hampshire, Maine, or Vermont, it's kind of sucky situation since the closest one is in Philly, but if anyone is going on a trip to Philly anytime soon, hit up Buffalo!

For those of you who are lucky enough to live close to one, the next time you go to donate your stuff to the local thrift store, first make a trip to Buffalo Exchange to see if you can get some money for your duds before you graciously donate them.

ALSO lovelies, I want to point out a major style watch:

Style Watch

La Roux lead singer Eleanor Jackson

I am deeply in love with La Roux's music, and if you watch their videos I'm sure you will be just as captivated with Eleanor's style as I am. Look out in the near future for a Looks for Less on Eleanor's funky futuristic style.

Ok, it's alright with me

Good evening lovelies! If you're back east caught in the random blizzard, I hope you're safe and your heaters are working properly. If you're here in San Diego, let's all be thankful for the lovely weather we've been having.

I'm soo excited to finally be able to show you this top. I wanted to show you this outfit Wednesday, but I wasn't able to get pictures in time. Thankfully now I was able to get the pictures uploaded.

About a week ago my boyfriend had to run to TJ Maxx to pick up something for his family. (As you all know, I LOOOVE Tj Maxx, so of course I offered to come along) While he was looking, I wondered the many and fantastic sales racks they're having right now. There I came upon my new favorite shirt. The thing that caught my eye was the fact that it's plaid. I have never owned anything plaid other than pj's, but I've always wanted to. My boyfriend so graciously bought it for me as a belated birthday present, but I saw the price and it was an amazing deal.

Below is my take on this hot fall trend and the coziest way to do it while still looking chic and fabulous.

Hot Trend

Plaid

Outfit:

Plaid Blouse Top: $7 (Tj Maxx)
Funky Green Purse: $2 (Thrift Store Up North)
Dexter Pin: Free (Comi-con)
Gold locket necklace: $2 (Yard Sale)
Dark Blue Skinny jeans: $10 (Nordstrom's Rack)
Dark Purple Suede Wedge Boots: $25 (Loehmann's)

Total: $46

If any of you lovelies are planning on wearing a bold plaid pattern such as this, remember to not pair it with a pattern that is just as bold or more bold. Plaid is a very distinctive, attention-grabbing print. I paired the funky-knit purse with it because it's a smaller print and there's less of it, so it doesn't overpower the plaid. If you really want to pair it with another bold pattern, make sure that either the plaid or the other pattern has much less showing, so it's more of a highlight than a whole piece of that print.

Now, normally, I'd go a bit more crazy with the jewelry and at least add one or two more things, but since I found the locket at a yard sale last weekend, I've been loving it as a singular statement piece. My recommendation folks, if you see a tiny little yard sale on the side of the road and you have an extra 5 minutes, do it. Go look, because I was doing laundry and running home to get something and I saw a little sale on the side of the road. I stopped off, got that necklace, funky wooden fish earrings and awesome vintage buttons for an amazing deal. The nice thing is that you can haggle, so I highly recommend stopping off at a sale, even if it's a tiny one. You never know what you might find.

Also, I've been told that buttons on purses has a bit of a juvenile feel and look to it. I personally believe one big, funky button on an otherwise plain purse, or 2 or 3 very small ones adds a bit of pizzazz, and you can interchange buttons and things depending on your mood. Just be careful not to overload a purse with buttons. I made that mistake once, and buttons were popping off left and right and it was a hot mess.

Now that you've read this, run run to the nearest Tj Maxx and check out the sale sections of the different departments. They have so many things marked down to $5; summer pieces and styles that didn't sell, so you can have the pick of the styles from last season. Run run! =)

In for the kill

Hello lovelies! I hope you all are having a marvelous week and that life is treating you well. Just a reminder that if anyone has a request for me to do a post on anything, don't be afraid to email me and let me know and I will be glad to talk about whatever you'd like.

Something about the weather starting to get colder makes me want to pull out my black and red clothing. I LOVE black, white & red together. It's just so simple yet bold and a complete statement look. That's why this week I have created a fantastic little number for anyone on any coast made up of the finest pieces from Polyvore.com.

For those of you who don't know, Polyvore.com is a fantastic website that is beyond addicting and absolutely free. You can put together outfits including accessories, backgrounds, even songs, which is very useful when doing homework, or you can actually go shopping from the website. Polyvore.com is home to what I believe to be every single clothing, shoe, accessory, and image website on the internet. You can find absolutely anything. I can tell you I have spent hours putting together crazy and funky outfits just for the hell of it. It definitely gets the creative juices flowing.

Polyvore.com

While this little bow may seem a bit childish, paired with very adult and bold basics, this bow adds the slightest touch of feminine youth with a dash of color in an otherwise basic outfit. I really love just one accessory of a different color because of just how strongly it pops even though it may not seem very showy.

Now I'm usually one for purses with a bit more hardware or some kind of bling, but I love the subtle French-chicness this bag lends the outfit, while still being big enough to carry everything, but not too big as to devour everything you put into it. I also love the handy little snap it has on the top to make sure everything doesn't fall out.

A basic, black long-sleeve tee. Can one ever go wrong with wearing one? I think not.

Now these shoes are absolutely fantastic. They have a little bit of a heel to give you a tad bit of height and a sturdy support, but they are very fresh with the pointy toe and the striking silver color. It may seem taboo to pair silver with white, but the black and red will make the silver pop.

I'm pretty sure I've used these pants before, but I don't care. These are amazing. Skinny jeans hold a place in my heart because they're so versatile. You could just as easily pair these with a great pair of boots and a sweater and go for a more cozy look instead of Early Autumn. I still truly believe these will look fantastic on anyone.

Outfit:

Red Bow - $2.99
White & Grey striped purse - $4.99
Black Long-sleeved Tee - $10.00
Silver Dollhouse flats - $12.99
Gap White Skinny Jeans - $14.99

Total: $44.99

I hope you folks enjoyed the outfit and don't forget to check out Polyvore.com when you have the chance. You won't regret it! =)

Around the net

Hello again lovelies!! I hope your week is going well and school has not burned you out yet.

For those of you that have been fortunate enough to see Jason Mraz with Brett Dennen on his Gratitude tour, HELL YESS!!

Instead of doing something from my bedroom or from California this time around, I figured it was a pretty good time to do an online edition of Thrift Addict.

I found this website, www.lamadesigns.com, by accident one day while I was reading a friend's magazine. They featured a really beautiful throw pillow from the website and after that I was hooked. I love how everything is hand-made, hand-carved, and genuinely authentic and beautiful. The layout is lovely, easy to navigate, and their products are just fantastic. Below are 3 of my favorite items from that website for under $50; must-haves to complete any wardrobe or outfit.

www.target.com

I genuinely love and adore Target. While I love to dig in the stores and sift through the sales racks for a few hours, I feel that the online site has so much more to offer and you can always find the lowest prices. Here are 2 of my favorite finds from Target.com.

The simplicity of this white Tank makes it easy to pair with just about anything. Dress it up, dress it down, or just wear it around the house, for $3, this is one deal that you can not afford to refuse.

White Lace Trim Cami - $3.48

I have a very small addiction to sweaters. Ok, truth be told I go wild for them even though I live in San Diego. Blame it on my East Coast upbringing. I think this sweater is adorable, would look great on every size and shape, and is perfect for the winter months that are approaching. You can't go wrong with a double-breasted smart cardigan like this.

Double-Breasted Caridgan - $20

Alright now lovelies, happy shopping! Good luck hunting down online deals. I hope my online ideas have helped you. Until Wednesday! <3

Around California

Hello lovelies! I apologize I did not update this past weekend; I'm changing my updating schedule. Instead of once a week every week, I will be updating every Wednesday and Sunday evening. My posts will be up sometime between 8pm and midnight.

I hope you all have been having a lovely week now that it's starting to get much cooler. Time to pull out those booties and those scarves! And of course, now you can go digging through thrift stores and not break into a sweat from the heat, yaaaaaaay!!!!!

Ventura

Last week I went up to my mother's house in Ventura and let me tell you, I LOVE Ventura! It's so much cooler up there and the thrift stores are teeming with goodies!

First off, I went downtown to a new place called Treasure Chest and found these amazing shoes! These are definitely the hottest deal.

HOTTEST Deal!!!!!

Farylrobin striped flats: $4.00

For those of you that don't know, Farylrobin is a shoe company that is never cheap, by any means. I bought a pair of their sandals at the beginning of the summer. I got them marked down a bunch of times AND i had a coupon and they were still $15. That's not a lot, but those shoes are impossible to find this cheap. Sadly, these lovely flats were not my size. The largest size they had was a size 9, which luckily is my mother's size so I snatched them up for her before anyone else could.

Anyone who is in downtown Ventura or passing through, make sure to stop in to Treasure Chest. They have an amazing selection and unique clothing, and they still have several pairs of those Farylrobin flats left in sizes 6-8. Make sure to bring in something to donate and the owner will be more in favor of a lower price if something doesn't have a price tag.

Now, a couple of stores down from Treasure Chest is the Am Vets thrift store. I found my $3 Banana Republic shift dress in there before, so I knew it would be the best place to go holiday shopping. Unfortunately I can not post a picture of the item because the friend I bought the top for reads this blog, but I can tell you it is Nine West and I picked it up for $3. They had so many things that I didn't want to leave the store even though they were telling everyone they were closing.

Men and women, whoever is reading this, run quickly! They had the most amazing selection of men's and women's clothing, and the shoes they had there were totally worth digging for. And if you're looking for a cheap way to buy for your friends, this is the way to do it!

Ojai

The second day I was up at my mother's, she took me up to Ojai for the first time. First off, let me just say how GORGEOUS it is up there. I would not mind at all living in that lovely town.

Secondly, the shopping up there is fantastic.

Rains in downtown Ojai is amazing. That store is truly a lifestyle store. They had amazing clothing for everyone in the family, and then they had a monstrous cooking section which I practically had to drag my mother out of. (Once she found the Stonewall, it was all over for her)
They've taken a great deal of markdowns in the clothing section. While I didn't find anything that my wardrobe was dying for, I can tell you all you MUST go check out the markdowns. They are easy to dig through and they have wonderful things that I'm sure will complete someone's wardrobe or just be a fantastic find.

Next we wandered down main street a bit and found a tiny little thrift store that had some great little treasures. Everything fantastic that I found wasn't in my size (Of course), but they had Stuart Weitzman shoes and high-end labels in there just ripe for the picking. I don't remember the name of the store but it was right across the street from the Cleaners.

If for whatever reason those 2 particular stores don't catch your fancy, almost every store on the strip was having a sale. I wandered into almost every store on main street in the heart of downtown and found all of them to have fantastic sales racks with some great markdowns. I didn't see anything my wardrobe couldn't live without, but I'm certain you all will find something to love.

San Diego

Now that I'm back home in the lovely (and finally cool) El Cajon, I was at work a few days ago at the Parkway Plaza Mall when I had to run to JCPenny's after work. On my way to JCPenny's I passed the Famous Footwear store. I'm not the biggest fan of Famous Footwear. I feel that their shoes are overpriced sometimes, but something honestly pulled me in and I gravitated my way towards the Clearance rack. Low and behold, I found treasure. Famous Footwear is having an AMAZING sale right now. They have many of these shoes marked down to just $5!!

After about a half an hour of digging, I found these gorgeous slingback heels.

Hot Deal

Corinne Grey Slingback Heels: $5.00

These heels are beyond comfortable and they may seem a bit dressy for the every day, but honestly, throw on a pair of boyfriend jeans, a frilly tank top and some cool jewels and you've got yourself an awesome outfit.

I highly recommend to run to the nearest Famous Footwear ladies and men and go digging. Set aside a good half an hour to 45 minutes and I can guarantee you will walk out of there with treasure.

Well, until Sunday lovelies! <3>
