Cool Weather Accessories: Gloves

Good evening lovelies! It's officially September and you know what that means; my birthday! Other than that, it means the cool weather will be settling in soon. Oh, how I miss waking up to those brisk, chilly September mornings with the leaves changing and falling from the trees. At night there was the scent of apple pies and cinnamon in the air with a wind whipping through the trees, making you want to snuggle with your hunny.

Here in San Diego, there's really none of that, but we still get to wear the amazing accessories that go along with the cool weather, that's in our minds at least.

One of my favorite accessories is an amazing pair of gloves. They just add such a pop to any outfit, and they're always so much fun. It also feels really cool when you pull off a pair too.

Virgo Fashion: $50 or Less

Good evening lovelies! I hope you all have had an amazing week. I know mine was very busy preparing for the amount of birthdays coming up this month. Yessss, it is the beginning of the month of the Virgo. Actually, Virgo starts on the 23rd of August and ends the 23rd.

This month, my boyfriend's birthday is on the 3rd, a friend who's birthday is the 6th, mine is the 11th, and I have other friends who's birthdays are at the end of the month right at the end of the Virgo time line.
A Little about the Virgo
Aug. 23 - Sept. 23

Earthy. "Do it NOW". Logical.

Virgo Positive Traits

- Modest and shy
- Meticulous and reliable
- Practical and diligent
- Intelligent and analytical

Virgo Negative Traits

- Fussy and a worrier
- Overcritical and harsh
- Perfectionist and conservative

As a Virgo myself, I can't deny these traits are about 98% true. It's interesting though, since my boyfriend is a Virgo, and I've noticed a difference between the male vs. the female Virgo characteristics and which ones show through more strongly. Of course, it also dependent upon the day of the month that the individual is born. It's fascinating how the day, the hour, the month, it all plays a part in how some characteristics are more prevalent than others.
Virgo Style

Me, being a Virgo, I want to show off my sign, and not look like a 12 year-old while doing it. Hence why tonight, I am bringing you cool Virgo style, for all you hip hippie chicks/guys out there. Everything below is going to be gender-neutral purely because this doesn't just pertain to women.

Virgo Messenger Bag: $25.00

This bag is very cool and very practical. Definitely a Virgo bag.

Virgo Cuff links: $29.95

Virgo cuff links are subtle yet striking. These are very cool and very wearable by both men and women. If I owned button-up shirts, I'd wear these cuff links.

Virgo Laptop Skin: $19.95

One of the coolest laptop skins I've ever seen, period.

Virgo Dark T-shirt: $25.00

A very cool, not-cheesy way of showing off one's sign. Very gender neutral, very cool, very fashion-forward.

Summer Shades $50 or Less

(I apologize about Sunday night lovelies. Between trying to do several weeks worth of homework in advance and sorting through things preparing for my move, I completely forgot. I promise it won't happen again my lovelies!)

"You got designer shades just to hide your face...."

For anyone else who's currently obsessing over Mike Posner's hit single "Cooler than me", look no further, cause so am I. As I was driving home tonight and was listening to his hit, I realized that people are really obsessed with designer shades. Me, an individual who couldn't give two hoots about a label, I own a pair of Betsey Johnson glasses. Did I pay $300 for them though like the majority of shades out there?

NO.

Do I believe that you have to pay $300 to get a pair of amazing glasses to cruise around in?

NEVER.

That's why tonight, I'm bringing you some shades, just to hide your face, cause you wear 'em around like you're cooler than me.....
Shades

$50 or Less

Santa Clara Sunglasses: $11.99

These might provide the most coverage, but for $12, these glasses are so funky and so worth every penny.

Jessica Simpson Shield Sunglasses: $32.99

Designer chic without the designer price tag. Need I say more?

Unique Crystal Sunglasses: $27.00

So cool. So modern. So TopShop.

Ray Ban Mirror Lens Silver Frame: $40.00

I have the urge to watch Reno 911 from just looking at these bad boys. Next, I'll be wearing short shorts and riding a bike to work. One can only hope it doesn't get that far...

Contest Winner!

Good evening lovelies! I hope your week is proving to be sweet and smooth so far and work is lovely.

As you all know, last Wednesday I started a contest for all of you to send me your stories about the best deal you've ever found. After going through everyone's submissions, I am happy to say that the winner of my contest is my wonderful coworker, Sharifa Chamberlain!

Sharifa's Story
"I was in New York visiting my boyfriend and of course I wanted to go shopping. We had just really started dating. He asked me what I wanted and I told him shoes of course. So we get to the store and I saw the shoes I wanted and felt I needed. So I saw the price and they were $1295. I knew Jimmy Choos were expensive but that's more than I pay in rent. So I told him it was too much and we could find something else. About a week later when I was back in San Diego my boyfriend and I went shopping again. I saw the same shoe for $795. I knew it was a bargain and my boyfriend paid for half of it. So I got a $1295 Jimmy Choo for about $400. I would say that was the best deal ever."

Jimmy Choo for only $400, that's a fairytale for such a well-known and expensive name! Awesome buy Sharifa! Now she gets to wear her awesome new belt and earrings set courtesy of Betty Belts in Ventura.

[only 3 days left of my contest]

Good afternoon lovelies! I hope your week was amazing and stress-free.

ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT FOR MY CONTEST!

For today, I'm bringing you something AMAZING that I found. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it, so of course I have to put it on here.

AMAZING Find

$50 or less

I think a lot of people have tried to really pinpoint hippie-chic in the past and recently, and they've done an amazing job, but they didn't show this necklace. I found this while browsing, and to me, this is the epitome of hippie-chic. I know I've said that in previous posts, but really and truly, this is a classy hippie piece. It's gold, it's the earth. It looks special and stunning without looking too precious.

This is a little on the pricey side for a necklace, but I believe that it's worth the investment because this will go with everything. This is neutral enough that, while it may be hippie-chic, it isn't specific to that one particular style. It's also striking enough that it could be the only piece of jewelry that you'll need to wear for an outfit.

Kitson 14ct Gold Plated Enamel Globe Pendant: $42.13

Alright lovelies, good luck lovelies! May the best story win!

Blitzy Bling Bliss

Good afternoon lovelies! I hope you all had an amazing weekend! Today, I am doing a post for one of my coworkers. He's informed me that he wants the forever arrangement with his girlfriend, but finding a ring within a reasonable price is proving difficult. Understandable, considering just one karat costs several hundred at least!!!!!

Being the kind of girl that I am, I don't believe in needing real stones to know that someone's commitment is real. Just so long as the ring is my style, that's all that matters. If the one who's asking to marry you doesn't know your style by now, you might want to rethink forever.

From the little he's told me about her, I gather her style is a bit more classic-chic, hence why today, I'm bringing more classic-chic rings with very affordable price tags!

Engagement Bling

$50 or Less

These are absolutely lovely. Stacked rings have this very cool, city vibe, but the appearance is still very classic.

Sterling Silver Princess CZ Bridal Engagement Ring Set: $20.75

Very classic, very stunning, everything a princess deserves and more.

Sterling Silver CZ Two-piece Ring: $32.99

This is beyond a statement piece. This and a thin hammered silver band with some funky earrings and you'll all set with jewelry. I'm not a diamond girl and even I would wear this.

AMAZING Internet Find

$50 or Less

Ladies Franz Boot in White: $45

I know this is very random and has nothing to do with engagement rings, but I saw these and thought about how PERFECT these are for right now. I hear a lot of girls saying how they have to put away their boots until the fall because the colors are too dark for the summer. WRONG. These white boots are absolutely perfect for summer all the way into fall. They'll go with everything, and be comfortable, like all boots are.

Shining light on Steampunk

Good evening lovelies! First off, I must say, F^$% YES on Prop 8 being overturned! Prop 8 can kiss my rainbow-colored a$$.

Next, I completely forgot to talk about something I saw at Comi-con until now. When I was at Comi-con and trying to find a place to sit and eat my lunch, I happened upon a bunch of people dressed in what seemed like garb right out of "Wild Wild West" or "Stardust". When I sat down next to a woman and asked her what she wearing, she replied "Steampunk". I had heard of it before, but I had thought it was a style of dress with every-day clothing, like Urban or Preppy. What I saw people wearing were full-on costumes with home-made devices. Turns out that Steampunk is actually a form of costuming. Those who are really into it meet each weekend and go out to a park or lunch somewhere, but those who are new to it like she was go to larger conventions when they come around and bring out their Steampunk wardrobe.

I won't lie, I fell head-over-heels in love Steampunk. I think I might just start costuming once I get some money, and some free time! I don't want to confuse anyone though as to why this is in my blog. I'm not trying to do a Steampunk costume for $50. I seriously don't think it's possible with the technology that comes along with it. I am, however, shining light on this amazing underground trend that I am so desperately in love with.

Steampunk

It's a little bit difficult to fully describe everything about Steampunk, but the creator of The Steampunk Home summed up Steampunk perfectly,

"I believe that Steampunk is more than just brass and watchparts. It's finding a way to combine the past and the future in an aesthetic pleasing yet still punkish way. It's living a life that looks old-fashioned, yet speaks to the future."

A steampunk watch.

Male and female steampunk costumes.

Devices with a futuristic appeal make steampunk, well, steampunk.

Anything with a Victorian feel rules.

Steampunk isn't just costuming though. There are magazines, animes, movies, novels, really anything you can think of and there is something of that nature with a Steampunk theme. I just recently found out that a steampunk ball is held in LA each year. There is, of course, steampunk jewelry which is more affordable. Here are a few examples of such jewelry:

Steampunk Jewelry
$50 or less

Midnite in Wonderland: $45.00

Steampunk Inspired Gearrings: $25.00

Steampunk Bracelet: $22.00
