New Year's Eve/Singing in the rain

Good evening lovelies! Now that the major holiday is over, time to sit back and relax and plan to get plastered on New Year's Eve. Thankfully it falls on a Friday night this year, so hopefully everyone will be able to sleep it off New Year's day. Personally, I don't plan on drinking, but I do plan on looking fabulous, as I'm sure everyone else is.

Tonight I'm going to bring you a 2-segment post. The first one will be a fool-proof New Year's eve outfit that anyone of any size and skin tone can wear, as well as some fun ways to beat the ran [since it is raining like nobody's business here]

New Year's Eve Outfit Spectacular

$50 or Less

The reason why I put together the outfit with the pieces that I did is;

A.) The silver sweater is perfect for New Year's Eve
B.) Add a pair of black tights and this is a very work-appropriate & winter appropriate outfit [ no matter which state you're in]
C.) The accessories keep the outfit from getting boring. Even the black clutch has subtle detail that works with the other pieces.
D.) The patterned and flared skirt evens out the bright sweater on top, so you will appear to be an hourglass.

People Sweater: $17.00 - Ross
 Tank Top: $8.00 - Gap
Skirt: $2.50 - Urban Outfitters
Shoes: $8.00 - Ross
Earrings: $1.00 - Baras Thrift Store
Ring: $10.00 - Betty Belts

Christmas Care: $50 or Less

Good evening lovelies! I hope you all are enjoying the rain during this very typical San Diego winter. For those who are in snow, stay warm and make sure you have your snow tires, lots of salt, and grippers for your boots!

Since Christmas Even is literally this Friday (holy crap, right?????) so tonight I am going to bring you some fun and funky gift ideas for your special someone, friends, or family.

 Gift Ideas

$50 or Less

I absolutely adore this because I've been in the stores and see the products offered [Always top quality with MAC] and you get to use that awesome tartan bag!!!! I know I was given a Marc Jacobs thing a little while and I use the bag to hold all my spare stuff in my purse. In my opinion, bags like these are priceless because not only do they look awesome; they're incredibly useful too!

25% of the proceeds will go to Women for Women International. Another feel-good gift. See? Shopping isn't so bad!

The wonderful thing about these is that a portion of the proceeds go to different charities and these are hand-made. Now you can feel good about shopping for your loved one!

These are just so cool. Who else is going to have such unique and AWESOME clothes pegs to show off on the clothesline? That's what I thought, NO ONE.

For the vintage-loving chica, or the more classic lady, or the girly girl, these earrings just plain rock.

A: Fantastic neutral color that will work with anyone. B: Universal head shape design. C: Adorable fox in the front = A wardrobe must-have.

This is one of those shirts that would work for a guy or a girl and would work no matter what your personal style is. Throw it on with jeans and sneakers, throw it on with a funky pencil skirt and boots, or throw it on as your favorite pj tee; it's cool enough for everyone.

I have never seen a bottle opener this damn adorable. It's almost too awesome to use. you just want to put it out to show off to people like "Yeah, i have one. You don't? Pity."

How adorable are these?! These are the perfect compliment to anyone's home and decor! No one can resist such lovely little designs at such an irresistible price!

Essentially it's like a grown-up version of Twister played in bed. Need I say more?

For cat-owners like myself, this is the coolest thing because it's not the typical cat-scratching post. It kills 2 birds with one stone: having something for your cat to scratch other than the furniture, and have something for you and your guests to look at that's wicked cool.

Self-grooming made cool and fashionable. El Fin.

Holiday Hurrah + Smart Styling

Good evening lovelies! Tonight I have a special 2-part edition tonight. First, I'm going to bring you a few gift ideas for the fabulous fashionista or fashion mister that you have in your life that might need a bit difficult to shop for. Second, I'm going to talk about style since I was asked a few questions by a very fabulous coworker this past week.

A Few Fabulous Holiday Fares

$50 or Less

For anyone who has a sweet tooth and enjoys pumpkin as well. For anyone who enjoys a bit of an interesting taste.

For the fashionista who is looking for the perfect boot to go with every outfit, this is the perfect boot, and the ribbon detail will go with every style your girlfriend may have.

The perfect little purse for going out to the bar or to a dinner.

My mother and I always watch HSN whenever I go up to visit her, and this past weekend we saw the Joy Mangano special. This woman does not sleep and makes everything under the sun from candles to hangers to tables. I have something made of this material from her as well, and it's amazing. It lasts for 2 years. It is the coolest gift!

I LOVE THESE. My mother bought me a set and I ordered another one this past week. They are beautiful, create room in the closet and hold any kind of fabric you can imagine. They're incredibly well-made and make the best present for anyone on your list since you get 30 and it's less than $30.

Smart Styling

My wonderfully stylish coworker Joseph and i were talking the other day about "spicing" up a wardrobe. He has fantastic basic staples and has a very chic city style. He said he wanted to amp it up though and feel more confident in his wardrobe. I hear that a lot, people want to feel more "confident". That is something that is open to interpretation since everyone's definition of confidence is difference. I recommend for anyone wanting to re-vamp their wardrobe and add in more things to make it better for them, first think about what kind of wardrobe would outfit a "confident" person, and then think about what you feel comfortable in. While a 3-piece Armani suit may work for John, it may not work for you if you don't feel comfortable in it. Of course, you don't want to be wearing a sweatsuit into work, but you also don't want to be uncomfortable. When you're comfortable, you're confident.

When you're thinking about how to re-vamp your wardrobe, look at it and think about what don't you like, but also try to make sure that what you bring in works with what you have so far. You want a wardrobe that works together to build outfits that go from day to night and work for multiple occasions, but you still want to be you. No matter what you want to do to your wardrobe, whether add or subtract, you want to stay true to yourself and your signature style that makes you stand out from the girl next door. If you can remember to be true to your tastes and your lifestyle, also what works well for your body type, you will have a working wardrobe that works like no other.

Holiday Accessories

Good evening lovelies! I hope you all are having an amazing week in the preparation for the big holiday ahead. It feels like just yesterday Halloween was coming up and now it's almost Christmas. Most people overlook the holiday accessories, and I don't just mean sparkly bows for the hair and velvet pants. I mean the holiday accessories that everyone who comes over sees and say so much about a person and their tastes, and half the time people don't even realize what they're actually saying about themselves.

Yes, I am talking about Christmas tree ornaments. Sounds slightly silly, after all, we don't wear Christmas ornaments. Our trees do though. Our beautiful trees that sit in front of the windows, puffing their chests and boasting proudly at the world to "Look at me! Look at how tall and full I stand!".

We have what we like to call a Channukah Bush, which is essentially a non-religiously decorated tree. This past weekend, I came across unusual bulb ornaments in different colors with gold glitter. Then I found unusually shaped long multi-colored glass ornaments and of course beautiful cream colored balls with gold suns and moons. I know a lot of people that just grab a package of generic ones at a store and call it a day. Yes, usually they are only about $5 for 5 or 6, but you don't need to spend a fortune to have awesome ornaments contrary to popular belief.I bought 30 ornaments for $100. Seems steep, but I never have to buy ornaments again, and for being hand-made, they were incredibly reasonable.

There's nothing wrong with generic ornaments, but mix in some funky ones, some that come straight from the heart or the coolest shelf around. You can make your own out of unusual materials and funky and creative!

"Channukah Bush"

Ornaments: $3.00-$4.50 each

Adorable and totally crafty. You could absolutely do this at home without a second thought. Craft night everyone!

How adorable and eco-friendly?! Reusing materials never looked so cute!

Yah-yah-yah-yahtzee face!

Good evening lovelies! I hope you all have fully recovered from the Thanksgiving feast and are now saving room for the Christmas Day feast. Black Friday's Bounty

Good evening lovelies! Due to the travel back down to San Diego only to come in to find the internet not working, I was unable to post.

Of course, Black Friday happened. It has come, it has gone, and yes, I shopped. I walked the block to the Urban Outfitters and spent a great deal on dresses, skirts, shoes and of course, an awesome weekend travel bag. My most favorite find though from this weekend actually came at full-price in a tiny little story up the block.

Even when I was living back in New Hampshire, I didn't have a cute coat. I had a durable, plain black one that was 2 sizes too large, but it kept me warm and it worked. I have never owned a cute heavy winter jacket.

Finding the perfect jacket can be one of the hardest things in the world; I would know, I searched for years. This past weekend I walked into the tiny store called "La Monde" and found the perfect peacoat. It only cost $40.00. To some, but finding the perfect jacket; that's priceless. This is wonderful price because this jacket will take me winter to winter. It's tough, waiting, searching, finding nothing, and waiting some more until you feel as though you will never find that perfect jacket. You'll give up hope, like I did, and then walk into a tiny store and find the perfect jacket staring at you. I normally don't drop $40+ on an article of clothing. My range is usually $20-$30. When you walk in to a place and find that perfect jacket staring at you, it doesn't matter what the price tag reads. It could be $10, and it could be $50. When you see it, you will need it because it be your every occasion jacket. It will go with everything in your wardrobe and it will  make you feel awesome and warm and chic all at the same time.

There will be others, but sometimes, it's best to strike while the iron is hot instead of waiting until it cools down. While it is usually smart to think about things before buying, the perfect jacket needs no contemplation, only wearing out the door as your shove your old one in a bag.

My Winter Jacket

I'm also noticing a few trends that seem to be popping up all over the place: leopard-print shoes and cape jackets. I have a few wears to wear these wonderful trends for less than $50 of course
