The Thrift Troubles

Good evening lovelies! Tonight, I want to talk to you about something that is becoming a growing problem in this country and unfortunately doesn't look like it will be dying down any time soon: bed bugs. Those nasty little guys are everywhere, and unfortunately popping up in stores now, mostly thrift! This has been a major bummer for myself lately because instead of being able to be excited about going into a thrift store and find a cool decoration or funky purse, I now have to worry.

Everyone should be very cautious about the possibility of bringing home unwanted companions since now they're on both coasts, but that doesn't mean you have to stop going to them completely. Anything you buy from a second-hand or thrift store, you must and i mean, YOU MUST inspect thoroughly with a magnifying glass. The reason why is because bedbugs aren't visible to the naked eye and they can survive without feeding or getting out of the item for up to 6 months.

It is very important to clean every single thing that you purchase from a store. If it's clothing, throw it into the washer immediately. DO NOT bring it into the house. If they're shoes, take a magnifying class and go over every inch. If it's an accessory, same thing. Anything you purchase you must turn inside out and have it cleaned thoroughly.

So long as you practice safe shopping, you won't have to practice finding a new house!
