30 Days of Lips + Looks: Day 13 "Burt's Bees of Every Flavor"

Day 13 "Burt's Bees of Every Flavor" - Burt's Bees Lip Gloss "Ruby Moon"

I got this on sale at the beginning of the year when I happened to walk into Walgreens at the right time. They were having on sale on only certain colors of this lip gloss for $1.50 each, and I got the last one of Ruby Moon. I was soooo excited because I love Burt's Bees and I've always wanted to try their lip gloss. I don't wear this that much though because it unfortunately does that thing where it builds up on the lips towards the outter edges and it has the tendency to settle into the lines of your lips a bit. Those are my only complaints. It's semi-sheer, so you can go lighter than the color in the container, or add a second coat for a more pigmented color. I decided to do a bronze eye to balance the dark red gloss.

(Please excuse my Joker pose in the first picture. I might be a little too excited for the Suicide Squad movie to come out)

30 Days of Lips + Looks: Day 12 "Nothing comes between me and my Calvin"

Day 12 "Nothing comes between me and my Calvin" - Calvin Klein One High-Shine Gloss "Tender"

My obnoxious duck face is there so it doesn't seem like I take myself too seriously, because honestly, for every serious picture I've taken for my blog, I've taken about 25 goofy ones right after it. (Also the duck face is to hide that I'm wicked sunburned under my makeup) I got this gloss in my Ipsy bag a few months ago and have worn in less than a handful of times. It smells very pretty, and is a bit of a thicker gloss. I like it because it's long wearing and doesn't leave that awkward residue on your lips that some glosses do. It's a very pretty, soft shimmery pink.

30 Days of Lips + Looks: Day 11 "Colorblock Effect"

Day 11 "Colorblock Tango" - J Cats/Kat Von D/Covergirl/Cailyn

I did an ombre lip the other day, so today I thought I would do a colorblock lip. I've always wanted to try one and I thought this would be really fun. The Covergirl lipstick is a deeper purple in the tube, but once on the lips it softens to a purplish-pink. The Kat Von D orange lipstick has sadly dried out after less than a year of ownership, so I'm going to turn it into an orange lip gloss by crushing it and mixing it with vaseline. This was my first time using the J Cat color and I am in LOVE. The lip paint from J Cat is awesome. I love Cailyn's tinted lip balm, but I don't go for this one as often as I do my other color, even though I feel super confident in this acid pink color.

30 Days of Lips + Looks: Day 9 "Naturally Simple"

Day 9 "Naturally Simple" - L'Oreal Collection Privee "Julianne's Nude"

Today was really simple, I just used two different shades of shimmer on the corners of my eyes. I wanted the main focus to be this pretty pinky-nude by L'oreal. It's so pretty that I decided to rotate it to the front of my collection since it was hidden in the back. I got a lot of compliments at work today because of this shade. It is a bit more sheer, I need at least 2-3 layers for it to be really pigmented.

30 Days of Lips + Looks: Day 8 "Disco Queen"

Day 8 "Disco Queen" - Maybelline "Make Me Pink"

I've been obsessed with glitter since I was a little girl, so I really wanted to go full-glitter with one of the days of this challenge. Green also happens to be my favorite color, so I thought I'd go with a green eye look after watching a tutorial a few nights ago. In the tutorial Desi Perkins used a green glitter shadow all over her lid, and after that I stumbled across Ali Michael's Instagram picture of a smudgy dark green eyeshadow look while watching "Blow" from Beyonce. The end result from all my inspirations was a sort of smokey 70's smudgy-disco look. I want the glitter to look kinda smudged up above the lid in an imperfect way, and since this was my first time working with glitter, I can say it wasn't easy! It took a bit before I (kinda) got the hang of it. ((Not pictured: my arms and hands covered in green glitter))

30 Days of Lips + Looks: Day 7 "Lined & Lippy"

Day 7 "Lined & Lippy" - J Cat Beauty "Red Rose"

I've done mini - small flicks before, but nothing quite so intense as this. I wanted to try a bold, graphic liner with a bold red lip. I used a glittery eyeliner over my basic black liquid eyeliner to give it a bit more dimension. Because the liner is so intense I definitely should've used false eyelashes for this look, I just don't own any yet. I haven't used this lip pencil in a long time, though I'm not sure why. It's so creamy and long-lasting. It wears just like a lipstick! In the picture with my face the color looks orange-ish I believe due to the lighting in that room unfortunately since it tends to be yellow vs. white, but it is a more true red vs. the orange hue it looks in the first picture. This is my favorite red lip pencil out of the few I own and I thought this would be a fun red for the look.

30 Days of Lips + Looks: Day 5 "Lip Love"

Day 5 "Lip Love" - MAC/Lime Crime

Since I did an ombre eye look yesterday I thought it'd be fun to try an ombre lip look. I love both of these lipsticks - they're really pigmented and beautiful. I love color so this was really fun for me to try. I've seen a lot of ombre lip looks in magazines so it was fun for me to experiment with this look, and because this was a more bold look I kept the rest of my makeup basic. I don't see myself every wearing this look out since it's not really practical, but it was so much fun to do. It was easier blending the bottom lip vs. the top lip for some reason though.

30 Days of Lips + Looks: Day 1 "Barbie Girl"

If anyone has read some of my previous lip product posts, then you've read/seen that I am slightly obsessed with lip products. Okay, not slightly, REALLY obsessed. However, I find myself gravitating towards certain colors again and again. Along from my lips, my eyeshadow situation is very similar to my lip situation. I love bold, fun colors, but guess what happens on a day-to-day basis....I gravitate towards very similar colors and looks. The problem is that it's easy for me to fall into a rut with my makeup, and so I decided to challenge myself for the next 30 days to put together interesting lip & eye looks every single day to push myself to get better and more creative.

Day 1: "Barbie Girl" - Covergirl Lipstick "Siren"

I bought this color a couple months ago and I haven't worn it yet. For this challenge I wanted to hit the ground running and go bold right out of the gate with something I haven't played with yet. This pink is awesome for the summer and I felt instantly more confident the second I put it on. It has pretty little gold flecks in it and is very pigmented. I felt really Barbie in this shade, so I decided to go with the theme and attempt a modern-day wearable Barbie look. Barbie is super girly with her eyes and lips, but the rest of her look is always pretty simple so I filled in my eyebrows just a little and kept it simple everywhere else, aside from the eyes and lips of course.

Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner: Review + Lookbook

While growing up certain beauty aesthetics were engrained into me as a sort of "Don't Do" bible. Each time we passed by the beauty aisle or I would play in my mother's makeup I was reminded of those rules as a warning, as if some glittery makeup goddess would bestow bad eyebrow days on me if I disobeyed. Of course, as a young teen and being told "Don't do that" only made me want to do it even more, and as I've gotten older and developed my own style I've rebelled against one rule in particular:

***Pink around the eyes makes you look sick/diseased***

As soon as I was out on my own in college I dove into variations of browns, pinks, blues and greys and I am happy to say that pink eyeshadow is one of my best friends. I'm so drawn to pink now as an adult that when I saw the Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner in the shade "Woodstock" on sale, my heart skipped a beat. The shade is a beautiful deeper sparkly coral that's perfect for the summer months. Instead of just doing a regular review about whether or not I like the product and how it wore, I decided to create 2 different eye looks using the eyeliner because I love it so dern' much.

Look #1 Half-eye cat flick

A very simple, easy half-eye cat flick. Since my eyes are smaller I like to start at the middle of the eye with eyeliner and then draw it out to the side since I've noticed it creates the illusion of larger eyes. The eyeshadow shades underneath the liner are lighter pinks and dusty mauves with a shimmery pink in the corner of my eye to draw light to it and create the illusion of a wider eye. I went very light on the eyeshadow application to give just a gentle base contrast for the bright pink eyeliner. My trusty NYX concealer under my eyes and one coat of Calvin Klein mascara completed the look.

Look #2: Double Liner Happiness

This was a tricky look for me as I've never really done a really big bold eyeliner, and I'm sure you can see I don't have the steadiest hands. I love contrasting two colors like this so I might continue to try to push myself with more challenging looks like this in the future. Practice makes perfect, and clearly I need a lot of practice! :-P

Overall Review:

Urban Decay's 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner is very easy to use, and of course the packaging is adorable. It goes on quickly and it STAYS on. I accidentally rubbed my eyes more than once, and my eyeshadow shifted but not the eyeliner. It applies very smoothly and it's effortless to create any kind of shape you want due to the thin application brush that comes with it. The color itself is bright but it's not a neon "I'm going to a rave after this" bright. It's a really beautiful bold pink and the sparkles add a nice hint of shimmer in the light. The ONLY bad thing about this liner, if you can't already tell from the picture above, is that you have to go sparingly with it or it can get a little...clumpy.

The price is absolutely worth it due to the quality of this product. This shade probably isn't for everyone, but if you're looking for a formula for a great liquid eyeliner, I recommend going for the Urban Decay 24/7 in another shade. I've tried different brands of liquid eyeliner with a brush before and I've got to say this is my favorite to date.

My summer purse

Hey lovelies, since it's summer that means bright, fun purses to tote around while going to the pool and out shopping. I hope you enjoy my purse and what I keep in it to keep me going while I run around between work and play.
